John D. Klinedinst Named Most Admired CEO by San Diego Business Journal for 2011

Klinedinst CEO John Klinedinst was among local chief executive officers honored at the San Diego Business Journal’s 5th Annual Most Admired CEO Awards.

Klinedinst won the award in the publication’s Private Company/Medium category, and was among local industry leaders recognized at the event. The awards program, held on December 8, 2011, was one of the largest of its kind in San Diego, attracting over 600 attendees.

While Klinedinst had been named a Finalist in previous years, this marked the first time that a law firm’s chief executive had won the top honor. “The practice of law, especially in this down economy, has demanded tighter, tougher management,” noted Randy Frisch, president and publisher of the San Diego Business Journal. “Increasingly, we are seeing well-deserved recognition from those inside law firms where good management has been practiced.”

In determining its honorees, the San Diego Business Journal considered CEOs from a wide array of industries, including defense contractors, credit unions, service organizations, financial institutions, and non-profits.

From all of the nominations received, 75 CEOs were named finalists. Each CEO was ranked based on their contributions to the company and community, with emphasis on innovation, leadership, and results-based focus. A total of 18 chief executives were then singled out as winners in their respective category.

“This is truly an incredible honor, for which I am very grateful,” noted Klinedinst, who founded the firm in 1983. “To be singled-out by your peers within the business community is very meaningful. However, this is a true team achievement, to be shared among the entire Klinedinst family of employees. Thank you to the San Diego Business Journal for this tremendous recognition.”
