Congolese Community Chicago calls for peace and strengthening democracy in the Congo

tags after the presidential and parliamentary elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo 28th November 2011, the Congolese community Chicago (CCC / DRC) calls on all Congolese political authorities and representatives of political parties to commit themselves to peace and democracy. Even if the votes are counted and the world waits for election results, Congolese political leaders from all political parties should act responsibly in order to exchange further violence and bloodshed of the Congo.
Congolese Community Chicago condemns the violence and killing innocent people and women, including police officers, which occurred throughout the Congo in the last days of the campaign and on election day.
Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), must ensure that the remainder of the electoral process performs transparency and fairness to all parties can accept the election results. Whoever wins the presidential election, should make a firm commitment to the unification of the country after a period of heated political campaign and to accelerate the process of democratization and post-conflict nation-building.
